![]() Hello all, and congrats on a very informative forum! I've been searching for an hour about my question but I haven't found an answer to this one... After I installed Limewire Basic, I noticed that my hard drive was clicking steadily and the HD light flickers lightly also, indicating HD disc activity. I even tried exiting from Limewire but no change. It did not do this before the install. I also installed Basic on my home computer and the same thing is going on. It doesn't seem like a big problem, but I don't really want my HD's working all the time like this...anybody encounter this and have any advice? I did scan my systems for viruses and everything looks A-OK. Any help will be appreciated...I am new to P2P so please forgive my Nebishness! |

![]() RocketFoot I shall take you at your word that you do not have any virus or spyware on your PC trying to connect to the internet, this would account for the "flickering" if you were infected. You must now be aware that LW Basic and LW Pro are very HD intensive programs and, when in use, is constantly downloading and uploading files. However, when you initially start up LW it will count all the files in your shared folder along with some other preparatory functions, hence the flickering HD light. So, basically, LW will count and prepare your shared files for uploading, connect you to the network via an ultrapeer and finally upload requested files. All this requires some sort of HD activity and all this happens before you can put your own request in for files you want to download. UK Bob |

![]() I have scanned both my computers and found no virus or adware...so, after reading about the virus warnings...I was a bit concerned about the HD activity. But if this is normal then I should have nothing to worry about? Or are there any options I can configure to halt excess HD activity when not using LW? So far, I only have like 3 files in my sharing file... Thanks for the quick response! |

You should check to make sure that LW is not starting up when your windows starts up, I get the feeling that your LW is running in the background when you switch your PC on. UK Bob |
