Haven't shared anything in days

Hey, I have a lot of things in my shared folder that I have been trying to share. But no one has been downloading a thing and I think it's been days, maybe a week or more. I checked options to make sure that sharing is enabled and it is so anyone should be able to download my files. Maybe it's that no one wants to download whatever I got right now but I find it unusual to go on this long without anyone downloading any of my files. So I was wondering if it has to do with anything like firewalls or if there's something that's preventing them from downloading or they're just not interested in my files right now. Is there anything that can prevent them for downloading myself other than disabling them from downloading?

If you're firewalled, this will stop most people.
Tools > options > bug reports > view example. Scroll down to 'recieved incoming this session'. True or false? False means a firewall problem somewhere.

Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall in front of blue earth)?

oh yeah I see the brick wall in front of the blue earth icon so it is a firewall problem. Can this be fixed?

Go over to Connection Problems & read the sticky. The first part "... check here first". Make sure your software firewall's configured properly. Read the stuff about UPnP & if your router supports it, make sure it's enabled & used within LW's firewall config (in tools > options).

Read also about internal firewalls within modems/routers. If your modem/router has this, you may need to port forward manually. Do the port test & see what result you get.

What are your details

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

I see you've had this problem before

You must've fixed it before, as it's only been days since you haven't shared anything. Unless your hardware or something else has changed, just go through the same process as before!!

ok I'm confused. Where is "Connection Problems" you told me to go to? I have no idea how to configure the firewall or whatever it is. You will have to go through this step-by-step as I have no clue about firewalls except it protects your computer from being hacked.

I have a DELL, Windows XP Home Edition 2002, Service Pack 2
My ISP is Cox and I have a D-Link Air DWL -520 Wireless PCI Adapter (Rev. D)
I have my windows updates installed
LW 4.10.9
Java 1.5.0_06
DSL or broadband connection
Connecting from home
Computer in other room is sharing connection with this computer
I've used Limewire for a year so it's not the first time. I did reinstall my system few weeks ago so that must be where the problem started.

After doing the system reinstall, I think I protected my computer more than I used to. I used to have SP1 and now I have SP2 and I am installing the automatic windows updates more often now. Maybe before the system reinstall, the firewall was not installed properly so my computer wasn't as protected. I hope that Limewire can work with SP2 and windows updates.

Just look up the top of the page, click on LimeWire (Cross Platform). Now you'll see the different sections. Go to Connection Problems.

If all you have is the XP firewall (you didn't tell me), you'll find instructions for configuring it. You'll need to find the name of your router, not the adapter, as Grandpa & LOTR asked you in your earlier threads. You can search the forum (top right) for SP2 patches... there are a couple. Yes, LW does work with SP2.

Go & read that sticky, sort out your firewall & UPnP if your router supports it & see how you go:)

I didn't have to do that but apparently, I guess after the reinstall, it got messed up but I fixed it. Thanks!
