downloading movies

Can anyone help a dingy blonde? I have a MAC and have downloaded some movies. What type of file/format do they need to be converted into to view on my home dvd player?

Thanks

For a mac, you should get Toast to burn them. And also for a mac, you should aim to get AVI or MPG/MPEG. Toast 7 is the best mac burner program.

BTW please don't double-post. The forum rules disallow it. We will see your post anyway.

how do you get a vidoe to play in the first place

If you want to play a video on a mac, I would recommend Setting Default video app as it's more reliable than QuickTime player.

Select the file from your downld folder & double-click. To make a file type default in OSX, select the file, command i (i & choose open with & choose VLC & then choose always open with or Change All.
