Has anyone compiled 1.8 w/out ads? I am really tired of Limewire 1.8's ads. I was wondering if anyone has a website, or has seen a website that has limewire 1.8 without the ads. This houldn't be that hard to do becuase the source is available from limewire.org. I would do it myself but I am not a progremmer and lack the tools and knowledge to do it. |

When you install limewire you get the OPTION to install 2 spyware/adware components. Even if you choose not to install the two, a third one, the one that serves the ads, is still installed. The company, cydoor, that serves the ads has been known to distribute spyware. As far as I can tell your dll only prevents the ads from being displayed and does not prevent the spying. On limewire.org they have the source code for limewire w/out the ads. I was wondering if anyone has compiled this source code. If I had the knowledge I would do it , but unfortunately the only languages I know are Q-BASIC and TI-BASIC. Basically my goal is to get a fully functioning version of limewire w/out Cydoor. |
