Default Java cache viruses

Why is it that when I do a virus check weekly, only the cache on Java is infested with them?

What is the reason for this and why doesn't my AV virus defence catch them?

Default Java Viruses

Dunash

Back in the dim and distant past I too caught java viruses, and like you, my anti-virus software at the time (Norton AV 2003) didn't pick them straight away.

I found that these viruses were compressed, like in a zip file, and inert, i.e. inactive, and seemingly waiting for some sort of outside signal to wake them up. I found them by running Ad-Aware, which temporarily open the viruses compressed files, and at that point my AV software could see the viruses and stop them from doing any damage. However, once Ad-Aware had scanned these compressed viruses and they became inert again my AV software could no longer see them.

So, eventually, I noted where these compressed viruses where, by checking my AV logs, and then manually deleted them.

Now, I use Norton AV 2005 which scans everything, even web-pages and compressed files, as they come into my computer. So I no longer suffer from hidden compressed viruses planted in various web-pages on the internet.
