Default Burning Audio With Nero

hi folks
for ages i was burning my songs to cd using nero ( 7 ), and while listening to them noticed that quite a few of the songs had jumps and skips in them. i just put up with it and blamed it on my kak old pc and also thinking that maybe the downloads were a bit dodgy. one day i dragged the songs over to burn and played 3 of the songs, they all skipped. then i tried windows media player. guess what. not a single skip. still i blamed it on my old pc. ive now got a pentium 4 3.2ghz 2gb ram pc and the songs still skip when burning with nero and not with windows. but windows takes so much longer. does anyone else have this problem and do they know how to fix it.

cheers

update to the newest version of Nero7, and try limiting your burn speeds to 8x max...

and if yur using a pirated serial # don't be surprised when you get a message pointing it out (seriously, the word 'piracy' is actually used in that message...classic stuff..hahahahahah)

I ran into that problem myself. In my case the CD-r disks were the problem. When I went out and bought some very cheap HP cd-r 52x disk and started burning at 24x I have had no problems whatsoever playing it in any of my equipment. Allthough I still have problems getting them to play without skips in some of my friends cd-players. You might just have a crappy player. When you burn with WMP the ID3 tag isn't burned so you have no info on artist/songname. With Nero you do. Also be very careful when inserting disks into your burner that there is no dirt or dust on them. That will mess up your burned disk if your burner gets filled with dust. Hope this helps

BTW I also noticed that Nero is best at burning MP3, not other formats

If you are satified with WMP, then offcourse use that instead. I just don't like it because it does not burn the ID3-tags. A drag when burning mixed CD's.

BTW I too am using a bought and paid for version of Nero 7

In my own oppinion one of the few programs worth the money. Off course others may disagree

I Can Even Use Wmp To Burn Cd When Nero Is In My Computer Because It Uses Nero To Burn Aaarrrhhh.

I Dont Like Using Wmp Cos Its Such A Pain, I Like Nero Cos You Can Mix Tracks Etc..

So Does Anyone Else Have Problems With Skipping

As suggested earlier, make sure the speed is not too high. Nero is one thing, but your burner is another. Try getting the low speed burning disks & burning with those at 4 or 8 speed. Keep in mind that some cd players either/both don't like the high speed disks or don't like disks burnt at too high a speed. And also some burners can't actually burn at the high speeds they claim they can. ie: at high speeds their burning is unreliable. Tests have shown some burners on the market claiming to be able to burn at 48 or 52 speed were actually only able to burn at a lower speed like 46 or 49 or something.

Also, check your player, use a cd cleaner to make sure there's no dust that's causing the skipping. Believe me it happens.

I would also suggest keeping away from the dirt cheap disk media. Get decent brand media for reliable results & long lasting results. Don't get disks made in China or Taiwan ... especially Taiwan. They don't have quality control over there like they do elsewhere so there's inconsistent media. Just my thoughts.

1 Thing don'y use nero 7 it's too glitchy, I stuck with nero 6 because i trust it more... and i don't need multiple serials to do things that should be in 1 serial... Nero 7 Annoys me!

ppl have said this and that about both Nero7 and its earlier version...I've had a few 'problems' myself over time (along with 'problems' with many apps) and in the end run (when I know for a fact it once worked just fine) I usually end up reformatting my drive and starting all over again with a clean slate...its the surest way of dealing with corruption of your OS and its attachments (read software)...
