Viruses in WMP 11 ?????
 

Hi Everyone,

I have been trying to download a m-player, and every one that I try to download comes up with some sort of corruption or Virus!!!!! :confused:

I have been using the zip files, shoud I try the executable files? I have current anti-virus.

Am I doing something wrong?

To your question: It is quite dangerous to download zip and exe files from the network. I'd reckon you not doing so, since the risk of getting infected with some sort of virus, trojan or whatsoever is too high.
Your protection progams might not prevent an infection.;)

hi neddy if u go to the official website of that program by searchin it in google. dats da safest way to download a program, from the official site.

Er you can get WMP for free why in the world would you dl it from Gnutella? And the best version 9x anyway.

it's free and malware free on microsoft.com. I always try to get y dls from microsoft.com. When they have what I need.

oops. so sorry, didn't realise about naming names - I do remember now that I did read it last time I came here.....

the reason that I tried to download THAT PROGRAM from Gnuttella, was that I thought the LATEST version of it had to be paid for, so I was trying to get it for free, which is why we download music, isn't it?, to get it for free?

So if I am assuming correctly, don't DL any program whatsoever?

It's safer if you don't. Many programs are legal to swap around at will but the
scumbags who deal in worms and such will tend to concentrate on free
networks where lots of people can be found.
