Default Is limewire Pro worth it?

I've had the basic for about a year now. But I'm really sick of these slow download times. I get so many files with super slow speed and I have the best connection available from my isp, with like a 5-6000 kbps download speed. But I cant get files to go faster than like 40kpps, and at times as slow as 10Kbps.

I've adjusted my preferences many times but it is still slow.

Is LW Pron going to change this or will I still have this problem. And if I do can I get refunded?

How exactly is Limewire pro faster is it on another server, what makes it faster? I need something more on why it is faster and why I should pay...

If by chance your speed is affected by your ISP in anyway, then Pro will not advantage you...
If you like looking for rarer files Pro will advantage you, it will do this because you will hook up to 5 Ultrapeers and download from up to 10 hosts, so in a way the more hosts you can connect to, can improve speed. It also depends on the speed of the hosts you are downloading from...
There are so many factors to configuring your LW properly...
If you do decide to get PRO you get 6 months of free updates and then you get a discount if you want a further 6 months and so on..You are not able to get refunds if you are not happy with it.....
Limewire is not run by servers at all it is just a program that links you to computers all over the world that use P2P....
Also if you choose to purchase Pro make sure you get it from the official site only http://www.limewire.com

How am I sopose to know if LW pro is worth it without any type of warranty, atleast a 3 day trial of some sort would be nice so we can tell if it would be worth joining.

MY ISP is not the reason because of my speed on LW, it's just LW is slow for me.

Is there anythng else that makes pro faster? It doesn't seem like there is much difference, I mean it's still p2p just like the basic service. A dedicated server would be alot better.

Oh and you said we get free updates for 6 months, and the last update was 6/13/05 according to the website....

maybe you should just try a different p2p application before purchasing something.

ohh that's why it's so slow.. yeah, limewire just doesn't run very good on a mac. something to do with java... i probably wouldn't suggest limewire pro if your on a mac.. i dont think it would work too great.. just based on what i've heard.

Theres just been an update 4.12.3....Basic is your trial version....
I have ADSL and my speeds suck because of my ISP, before I moved I had cable through the same ISP and my speeds rocked, everyones situation varies...
Do you have a firewall in front of your globe??
Have you done a speed test to see what speeds you should be getting??
Does your ISP shape or throttle P2P ???
Have you got your banwidth set according to your download and upload speeds??
All of these are contributers of getting the best from your Limewire...

What do you mean by do I have a firewall in front of my globe?

I have done speed tests here are the results...

download speed from NY server

5680 kbps (710 KB/sec transfer rate)

upload

475kbps (59.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

How would I know if my ISP shape or throttles PSP, what on earth is that?

And yes I have it adjusted for my download and upload speed.

Is it true that macs have issues?

No limewirepro is not worth the ten minutes it takes to download it. I have noticed absolutley no difference in any part of it. I still get the same downloads offered to me at the same speed. Total waste of time

Pro is worth it if you have a fast connection, download popular files with many sources, or search for rare content. But, you can download the source code for free and hack it to get the same functions and features as Pro, all perfectly legally.

The free support here has been more effective for me than Pro support.

Getting Pro is really about donating to the project to keep the developers developing, IMHO.

Since everything about Pro can be done for free, the only reason to get Pro is to support the project, so others can use the code too for free.

Get Pro.

Oh--I'm on a Mac and have been getting Pro for about 4 years. There are far fewer issues on the Mac than on WIndows, but the biggest issue is after LW has been running for several days and you download lots. Then the OS X virtual memory can get up over 2 GB and LW becomes really sluggish/unresponsive, with the beachball spinning for minutes. We are still waiting for the Apple Java to fix this.
