Default Upgrade to Pro 4.12.3

I have 4.10.9. Does it pay to upgrade to the above?

Default Waste of money

I upgraded today, from Pro to the new Pro 4.12.3 and I feel it was a waste of money. It is virtually no different from the other Pro I paid $18.80 for. I'm very disappointed in it. I feel it was a total waste of $14.40. I'm not happy with it costing so much more money, for same thing.

4.12.3 works fine here with OS 10.4.7, and uses a lot less memory (I can run it far longer than 4.10.9).

Not sure if it will work as well with OS 10.3 though.

I just dont feel the upgrade warranted the extra money. The cost of the supposed upgrade was almost as much as the original Pro. Sorry I did it.

I'll be updating my Pro shortly.

A tremendous amout of code was changed. Most of the improvements are invisible, though. See http://www.limewire.com/english/cont..._history.shtml for how much changed between 4.10.9 and 4.12.3

Secondly, you never have to pay: it's all free.

If you "pay", you are just supporting more development.

Well, thats how I look at it as, helping out. I dont like getting things for "free". Someone is working awfully hard to keep this together. Funny thing is, when I upgraded, my download file was gone. I had to make a new one. Thanks for your response. I'm kind of new to all this, I dont use it much. I'm so afraid of getting a virus. And also I'm not sure about the file sharing aspect of this, and how it works. Cant teach an old dog new tricks, I guess. Shocked I got THIS far. Thanks again!

I upgraded...but when I pause my downloads the percentage decreases by about 20%. I went back to 4.10 and it's doing the same thing...

Yusuke: nice check. I did read somewhere that the download %'s calculate/display differently, but the actual pieces downloaded are OK.

If you can repeat the situation, you can let the developers know by posting your findings at http://www.limewire.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=75
They really appreciate the cooperation.

Treelady, sounds like you're doing fine, and I agree with your thinking about supporting the project. As for viruses, I can't help (I'm on a Mac), but there are lots of helpful Windows folks on the forums.

Cheers

Treelady

You might find the link below helpfully on things to look out for when downloading. There is some good information in there about Viruses on the network.
