Isn't Limewire just WinMX i just installed Limewire and noticed that it looked very much like WinMX. Infact exactly alike. Only difference was the connection speed. WinMX gices me turbo charged connection, whereas lime wire gives me full bars. And after foolishly buying Pro, realised that it was no different at all. Except now i had turbo charged connection. Just like what i was getting from WinMx, except i didn't have to pay $20 for it. It came standard with the FREE application. |
All P2P apps look a like and are the same. The only diff might be a slight change of interface and features. Just remember Pro Limewire only gives you 6 free months of updates. :) |
Totally different network. On the MX network ... yeah queued up for hours. Though there might have been some good material on that network ... you had to be lucky to get in 1st or anywhere near it. The Gnutella network has a larger user population ... more files ... easier to connect to files & multiple users ... & is even introducing Torrents soon. ;) Most gnutella programs are based off limewire's code in one way or another. Without the development of limewire which they offer the code to others for free ... well ... pro helps support this continual development. What's more ... you connect to more peers than LW basic or BearShare, etc. That helps you search for the rarer material. ;) :) Some people can get turbo connection with LW Basic (Free) also. But probably not as consistent as Pro. |
Actually, I thought WinMX was dead? |
It is. But i can still use it download. not sure why tho. |
