![]() Hi Ihave used Limewire for some time now and never had any major problems. I have downloaded the current version of Limewire and can no longer preview a video file! At the bottom of the Limewire window and also in the options for the player it says use Limewire player, but when I click preview the file it launches windows media player and it gives me the following message: 'Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file' I have the current windows media plaer and divx installed as it is a divx file. But why is it launching windows media player when it should be lauching Limewire player and at the same time not allowing me to view the file, any help is appreciated. Thanks |

![]() The LW player is a music player, it won't play video! Videos will always preview & launch with your default video app. You could try VLC player if you like, it's free & has codecs installed. You'll just have to preview by opening your incomplete folder outside of LW (VLC doesn't seem to let Windows users preview within LW). You can get VLC here ![]() |

![]() Ummm, not really ![]() It shouldn't be a VLC problem, it's usually really reliable. Did you check the file with Bitzi before download? If it's been rated, you'll see if anyone else has had the same problem with that file. How to use Bitzi If all else fails, do you have another player you could try (RealPlayer or something)? |

![]() Many people are having the same problem. In addition, if you try to use the links associated with the Help, they do not work also. To correct the problem, load the latest Limewire in safe mode. When you reboot the system (XP Pro/Home) just as the system starts to go into Windows, hit the F8 key until the safe mode screen comes up. Good luck. This should help you with being able to preview videos and music. Had the same problem on several computers and it fixed all of them. |
