You have it already with any operating system and media player.
Maybe you meant something else. What do you want to do exactly?

Are you talking about avi codecs? If so then you can download it for free here. This codec is for Windows because I'm assuming that's the OS that you're using.

What type of burning program are you using? I use Nero StartSmart and it automatically converts .avi's, mpegs, etc. into DVD format.

I think maybe you want to convert AVI files to other format,eg.DVD,then you can burn and play it,right?
If this,i can tell you how I do this work.I usually convert avi to dvd first, then burn it to disc.So i can play it on my dvd player or pc.And i use winavi for conversion, nero for burn.If you like, you can try trial version first.
good luck :)

Ok, I am so confused. I'm new. I have Nero StartSmart and I downloaded an avi file. I tried to open it so I could burn it to a DVD and it wouldn't let me. Am I missing a step?

Did you select Make Your Own DVD-Video when you opened up Nero? Once you select that then you click on Add Video Files. Once you've done that just go through the next couple of steps and then you can burn your DVD.

Let me know if this helped any.:)

When I open nero I click dvd at the top. When I chick on the video part it just have dvd to video file. Can you go by step by step on how you do avi or mpeg to dvd. That what I been wanting to do.
