problem playing video

Hi I have recently download some videos off of limewire. The problem is, when i go to play them (with windows media player) there is no picture. The only thing that plays is the sound but there is no video that shows. When it is loaded it says error downloaded codec. I dont really know what that means, but it may be important I guess? What do I do? Please help!
