Question Turbo

Hi,
I`m new to this site, so I hope somebody can help me.
I installed Limewire onto my computer last year, and paid 10 pounds for the Turbo, to enable faster downloads. However, a couple of months ago, I had to send my PC away for service. This service included my whole hard drive being wiped clean, as it was totally clogged up. When I got it back, I had to reinstall various programs, including Limewire. It is now running on the normal programe, which I downloaded from CNET.com, but does that mean I have to pay 10 pounds again, for the Turbo, or is there an address, where I can contact Limewire, to point out this problem. I dont mean to be tightfisted, but I dont like to pay twice for the same thing.
I would appreciate any kind of ideas.
Many thanks,
Tony.

Not if you purchased it last year. LW Pro offers free updates for 6 months only. But the problem is ... LW is not called Turbo!!! And LW Pro is not offered through C.NET.com!!! You can find the free version there but certainly not LW Pro. You find it here http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml
I'd hate to think you bought a scam version of LW.

Wink Re-Turbo

Thanks for your reply. Now that you`ve mentioned it, I think it was LW Pro, but the word turbo springs to mind. But, as you have pointed out, it is only for 6 months, so I am well past that time limit already, and will have to buy it again!
Once again, many thanks.
Tony.

If you want Pro yes. But you can always use the free version. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml
But if you buy pro you can always backup the installer onto an external device just in case something similar happens or you need to reformat for any reason.

Question RE-Turbo

Thanks. You seem to know a hell of a lot more than I do about these things. Maybe you could help me with something else. I have recently installed a DVD Rewriter, and although I can play DVDs on it, each time I download a movie from LW, and then click the "Burn" button, the drive then opens, and a message appears saying: Please insert a blank CD in CD Drive. Each time, I always make sure there is a new DVD in, but each time, I always get the same message. Because of this, I must watch my movies on the computer, from the Shared Files. I download movies because I am in Germany, and dont understand German TV, but would just like to watch them from my DVD player in comfort, instead of sitting at the PC. Any ideas where I`m going wrong?
Tony.

Default Burning software.

I have several. There are Windows Media Player, Nero, and Ashampoo. None of these work, when trying to burn movies. I can download music and put it onto CD, but that is all. Both drives were CD drives on the PC, and I changed one to a DVD drive.

I was almost going to say it a few mins after UKBob's post. The possibility is it's a firmware or software problem. You may need to check the home site for your burner to see if there's any firmware updates. And for software it's the same. Burner software needs to be updated to cater for new models of burners & their firmware abilities.

If I'm wrong, then it must have been a poorly installed & configured burner. The system not recognising that it's a dvd burner, not just a cd burner. Perhaps reinstall the drivers ...

Cool Firmware/Software

Hello again.
As I know virtually zero about computers, I must ask: how do I go about updating the firmware or software, and how do I reinstall the drivers? Do you mean the actual DVD drive?
Tony.

Well do you know which brand & model of dvd burner device you have? Knowing those 2 things are important. Then you can google the address of their site, go to their customer support section & look for firmware upgrades for your particular model.

The same applies to Nero. Check their site for updates for your version of Nero. AFAIK only Nero version 6 & 7 can burn to dvd's. Or perhaps also the later versions of Nero 5.
