Hi all, I am actually a diehard WinMX fan but trying best to get Limewire to work, just not sure if expecting too much or simply aint configuring right. Any tips would be appreciated. Prob 1 : apparently no built in group chat rooms, so are there any chat sites that swappers tend to hang out in? As in movies only, Apps only, mp3's only, etc? Prob 2 : while uploading, I find 1 outa 5 uploads actually deserving to get, is there any way to allocate bandwith between uploads so that can put rush on ones that need? Prob 3 : I come from a "be polite and ask 1st" scenario which doesnt seem to apply with Limewire because 98% of folks I try to ask before downloading either have chat disabled, ignore it, or at best speak a language I have no clue how to respond, lol. Is this normal? No communication between the giver and getting? If so really bites, cause I've had several downloads I coulda hollered at and warned them that "only works if running XP Pro" or "that file works but really is outa date, you oughta get other one", etc. Just asking if I mite be expecting too much outa Limewire. Thanx for any tips ya'll mite have.

I'll let other users put their views across about this. One point I'd like to make is you can put a description to any type of file. So you could put in your description "only works on XP", so the people who are searching will see that tag & know immediately. To describe a file, select it in the Library window & press Describe button. ... rest is all yours.
![]() Oh & use the Refresh button after that so the information is immediately available to users online who are searching. ![]() This will however mean LW will recount through its shared files. So it may take a while if you have a lot of shared files. |

Thank you LoR, not quite as good as 2-way communication but very true. When refreshing.. it refresh all shared files are simply one picked? Asking because at moment have about 80GB shared, would take hours to rehash

Once hashed always hashed unless changes made. But speed of recounting/reaccounting through the shared files can depend on system. On mine it happens quickly unless they are video files. Size of file can determine length of reaccounting but also can efficiency of system. The best way is to try it once. But with so many shared files, make as many changes as needed first before refreshing. Yep with so many that would definitely be best.
