Please, I really need help! I was chatting with someone with LimeWire, and acidentally, it closed. It must be a way to retrieve the IP of the one I was talking with, or at least see the History. Please, I would really appreciate some help! |

Not an easy solution I'm afraid. You can only really do this by re-searching for files you know the other host is sharing. It is possible you have actually blocked the other host, by clicking "block host" instead of "send" ... I've done it myself in which case their ip will be in your block list, but it depends on how many hosts you have blocked, if you can find them, and you will still not have their port number (the number after the : colon If you start to chat with someone via a search result or download/upload result, it is always a good idea to make a note of their ip number, although this is not even necessarily a useful thing to do as many peoples' ips change regularly. and of course this is not much use to right now.... |

So, really there's no way to read my chat history? LimeWire needs to have a way of registering that, that's something dumb, that every program with chatting needs to have! And where do I see my blocklist? If I don't know any file the user has (and searching by that way would take hours), and i have no idea of the IP of the person, there has to be a way of knowing that, even if I need to dissecate the program codes to find it! Please, if there's an expert, I'd do anything for help, that person is important for me, but that accident happened, and I closed LimeWire. Yeah, I'm an idiot, but if there's someone more intelligent than me, I'd like to try harder. Thanks a lot! |

Hm ..I just realized also that you managed to post in the phex forum, so a moderator might move this.. and if your friend comes here looking for you they will not look in the Phex forums. (Phex is a different application similar to Limewire) The Limewire chat feature, as is, is somewhat of an afterthought, and for me has one useful side effect, in that it makes it easier to connect to and browse hosts that have chat enabled... I think. It is not MSN or Yahoo chat, and the features of those programmes can not be expected of Limewire chat. Treat it as a nice surprise if it works. In Tools>options>filters, you will find your block list for hosts, and also search terms, and something else which I don't have on my version As I said, you must have some idea of what they were sharing, and a search for something relevent is your best bet. I repeat searches often and the same bunch of hosts are always cropping up, provided they are on line. If you "met" this person through Limewire, I assume that some connection with the files one of you were sharing was the trigger. If you closed Limewire, I suspect that any information that MIGHT have been saved temporarily, will have been removed, but MIGHT is the main word here anyway. |
