Hi,

When playing a downloaded episode of the TV series ****, ( On my TV)the video and audio start out in perfect sync. But after a few minutes there would be a momentary "pixelation" of a portion of the picture and then the video and audio would be slightly out of sync. This would occur several times throughout the episode and after each "pixelation" the audio/video would be more out of sync.

Why does this happen and how can it be prevented. My computer is very new and very fast with 2 gig of memory om Windows XP. My TV is a 40"Sony Bravia and a brand new sony DVD player.

Am I right in guessing that it is caused by the person who recorded it and it is not a software/hardware problem on my end?? Is it some sort of compression eroor during recording or would having different codecs on my computer help??

Any light on this would be greatly appreciated. I did a search here and it seemed that all the answers were directed to people who played the files on there computer vice a TV.

So, what you're actually saying is that you downloaded a series part, burnt it on CD and now tried to play it with your VCD/DVD player, right?

I remember having such problems as well in the beginning when burning VCD's. I fixed it by converting the avi files to VCD or DVD VOB. I use the Super Converter to do so, free to download from here:

I have the exact same problem with one particular TV series... probably the same one... It plays fine on my computer, but when burned it does exactly what general T described.
I have burned loads n loads of full length video files with Nero 6 and they have all been fine... its just this particular series (downloaded from the same uploader).. it did make me think that maybe the uploader/sharer did something to the file to stop people from burning it and maybe attempting to sell it????
I have looked into the SUPER converter but when I read through it all and went to download it, it says you must have 20GB free hard drive space which I simply do not have... and therefore couldn't use it.

I can assure you, you won't need 20GB,....the Super.exe has 24 MB and what they have written there seems to me a mistyping.....

I've got it downloaded and installed,...the whole Super program folder under C:Programs has only 26.6 MB.......so no need to worry.....

Really??? !!!
Well I couldn't believe it when i read that it needs so much space, I was totally baffled but didn't want to risk it in case it knackered up my computer. The only explanation I could come up with is that it used this space to cache files whilst it was transcoding???
But if your sure its as small as you say then I'll give it a go.

I have similar problems with TV shows as well, I have come to think that the networks have added some sort of security into them, so you can watch them on your computer but if you try to make a copy of them you get this audio glitch...
It may be because the series isn't released onto dvd until a fair bit later after the original airing and they are trying to stop illegal copyright...

I have seen alot of people with the same issues at the afterdawn site...

Just a theory as to why this happens so much...

Yeah, I think your right there... or maybe the sharer has added the glitch themselves? I don't blame them really, I wouldn't want anyone selling my shared stuff either.
The only reason I like to burn my video files is so that I can watch them on a nice big TV, instead of having to crowd round my tiny monitor and watch them.
Anyhow, let us know how you get on with SUPER General T... i'm interested to know if this would work on these files.
