Downloading Speed

i have a windows xp, and i have limewire pro beta 4.13.0.
i get 10 hosts and average speeds of 100kbps, is that normal or should i be getting more?
what would be my downloading speeds if i bought T1?

Hi. Speed depends on the speed you are getting from your isp. This should help you understand things a little better

For the purposes of Limewire If you have a connection of up to

56 Kbps you should set your Limewire to Modem and you will expect a speed of 6 KBps maximum on your downloads

350 Kbps set to Cable/Dsl for downloads of maximum 40 KBps

1000 Kbps set to T1 for downloads of maximum 100 KBps

3000 Kbps or more set to T3 or higher for downloads of maximum 350 KBps or more

Note that ISPs give speeds in Kilobits per second Kbps
But downloads appear as KiloBYTES per secons KBps ...
I Kilobyte is equivalent to 8 Kilobits

You can run a speed test on your connection at http://www.dslreports.com/

I have given you the speed settings for Limewire, which are not necessarily the speeds you get if you purchase a T1 connection for instance.

You have in fact posted in the Phex forums, so please take care in future to post in the correct forum. Alternatively you could try Phex. We think you would like it:)

pretty soon a should be getting a connection speed of 1.5mbps from Windstream, should i set it to T1 or T3?

I'd use T1, so you have some free bandwidth for other things left :)

Best wishes,
Arne
PS: You're still in the Phex forums. You can get Phex from: http://get.phex.org
