![]() Gentlemen, I've been using Limewire for several years (currently version 4.12.6). Ordinarily, the system has been completely dependable and solid. However, I've now encountered a problem that's beyond my meager abilities to solve. I was merrily downloading and uploading last evening (December 26). Well into the night, everything more or less shutdown. Downloads couldn't find sources, even those that had been receiving from up to 8 hosts. All four of 'em (2 MP3's and 2 videos). Uploading ceased to continue as well. I decided that the Limewire network was probably undergoing maintenance and would be unavailable on the short term. Today, I logged on and found the situation to be the same. No uploading, no downloading. Even conducting simple searches got no results. Limewire tells me that "your connection is very strong." Nothing has changed firewall-wise at my end. Gotta admit, I'm at a complete loss to understand what's going on and why. Is it just me? If so, can anyone supply an answer as to what I might do to rectify things? I'd greatly appreciate any assistance. Please keep in mind that I'm an old fart, so it would be best to avoid highly technical advise. Such things make me cry. Many thanks in advance for your ideas, suggestions and recommendations. I hope everyone who reads this is preparing to enjoy a very Happy New Year. = WriterGuy = |

![]() There's no network maintenance & no central server...you connect to other computers. Try deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's closed. See points 2 & 3 below for instructions. If you've been using LW for a long time, you might have a prefs folder in either location. It's not too difficult...please don't cry ![]() Fixes for LimeWire If that's no help...post your details. System details - help us to help you |

![]() Birdy... The only file I could find that was close to what you suggested was .limewire props. That was all, so I deleted that file, reopened Limewire and nope. No difference. I then decided radical surgery was necessary. So, I removed the entire app and then reinstalled it. And that's what it took. Limewire is now working as I had come to expect. I can also add that very few tears were shed. ![]() I sincerely appreciate your time and efforts in my behalf. Assuming the stars are lined up properly, this will be the toughest problem you face throughout 2007. ![]() Thank you, = Writerguy = |
