![]() Well, solved one problem of why limewire was behaving oddly, using up too much memory and this was because in an effort to save my '' Incompletes '' I had transferred the .bak and .download files from my old incomplete folder, to my new incomplete folder i.e. swopped old .bak for the new ones, (Trying to save old downloads after crashes when LWire says ''Sorry cant resume old downloads'' Problem was after a re-build, new disc etc.. I noticed TWO incomplete folders on different drives, after some research on forums found that you can change address of 'Incomplete' folder in the .limewire PROPS file in the application data folder, tried that didn't work ! had some help, from a friend, who went in to the .bak and .download files in my main incomplete, and changed the addresses of all the old files to my new drive !! half the files in incomplete were addressed to my OLD drive, hence LWire opening another incomplete on my old drive letter. Very confusing !! Now it's behaving very well ! HOORAY !!( And only 1 incomp[lete folder' Still would like to know what the ''Evil host bear share'' entry is in the .limewire props folder??? and also if anyone else has a slowdown or 'freeze' when browsing a host with thousands of files????/ All the best from a relieved N2 ![]()

![]() So you found another ways of reconnecting the incomplete files and the downloads.dat file. Very nice. If it's easy then just do a step-by-step here. It should help other users who have the same problems a lot. ![]() Oh forgot. Leave the props to the devs. They have their reasons. and I've had Limewire hang a bit a times when browsing, but never freezing. |

![]() Hello again,it's about time I did a step by step on my problems!! so here goes, When I lost all Incomplete downloads, after two freezes and crashes, I happened to have taken a copy of my downloads.bak and downloads.dat files from my Incomplete folder(Not a bad idea to take a dated COPY,(leave originals in place,or get ghost explorer so you can get at old file copies) every now and again, especially if you have been suffering crashes) these are found in your Incomplete folder, not far from your limewire shared folder. I had a major problem with a hijack, so decided to re-install XP, and also fit another drive at the same time, did that, re-installed limewire, and when i ran LWire found it was using lots of memory, and also another Incomplete folder appeared on another drive !! Tried deleting it, reinstalling lwire ,nothing worked, with some help I discovered that a lot of my 'Incomplete downloads' were from my OLD DISC and therefore had the old address, hence LWire making another incomplete folder at the old disc address. There is an answer to this,Turn LWire OFF, Go to your .limewire folder on C drive,Documents and settings, username,.limewire folder or if running Pro,C drive,Docs and settings, username, application data,Limewire folder, inside folder, DELETE the limewire.props file, Dont worry LWire duplicates it on start up, DONT start up yet, Go to your Incomplete folder, open it find the downloads.bak file, double click to open it, ''Open with'' function choose WORD PAD to open with,You could also use Notepad, it's slower tho. A whole lot of files will show up, some obvious, some gobbldegook, You will notice some addresses i.e. D(Or whatever drive letter) eg. D:\Incomplete\T- the idea is that I had scattered around two different drive letters,go to top of word pad, click the ' EDIT ' button and you will get the menu up, go to ''REPLACE'' function, a box comes up, choice of ''Find what'' in this box, type in the box your old drive address letter, for example, C:\Incomplete then type in the ''Replace with'' line, the new address or drive that you want ALL your incompletes to be on, for example, D:\Incomplete-------If this is where you have your incomplete, and want to keep your incomplete,if not make sure you have an incomplete in the place you WANT it first! Then click the ''REPLACE'' button, if you want to do just one or two, or click the ''REPLACE ALL'' button, and lo and behold ALL your incompletes will be re-addressed(Also usefull if you want to change locations of your incomplete folder) Then do exactly the same for the downloads.dat file, job done. ![]() Then restart LWire and all your incompletes will be downloaded to the designated address, This solved my problems, and i hope it helps anyone else who changes discs, or reinstalls, finds themselves with 2 or more Incomplete folders, etc....... All the best one and all, Newbee2
