Nero Burning Problem...

Actually I have had mostly success with burning video/moives with Nero but I am having this one problem. I have tried to burn this movie more than once and I keep getting this message:

There is not enough space to burn this compilation to the disc.
Please insert another disc that has enough space.....

The movie is only 1:42 long and I am using 120 min. DVD's. Can anyone shed some light on how to overcome this problem:bangh:

Your DVDRs say 120 minutes because the manufacturers want to appeal to customers who don't understand what gigabytes are. Your '120 minute' DVDR is really a 4.7 gigabyte DVDR. If you really want to know, a 4.7 gigabyte DVDR won't even hold 4.7 gigabytes. It's more like 4.4 gigabytes.

So...it doesn't matter how 'long' your movie is. Movies encoded at a high bitrate (high quality) take up more space than those encoded at lower bitrates.

In conclusion, if it's less than 4.4 gigs then it will fit. If it's more then it won't fit.

Hope this helps

Well I can understand that..the only thing is when you go through the process of preparing the video for burning it will tell you if the file you have is too large to fit the disc. The Nero program is telling me that it will fit until it gets to the final stage after creating menus and transcoding streams then it goes to burn and tells me that it won't fit. I have downloaded the movie from two seperate sources and I have the problem with both of them...confusing...

I've had the same problem with a particular file and I know that it will fit, but Nero says it wont....
I ended up using dvdsanta as I couldn't find a solution for it, even after trying like 5 times...:rolleyes_2:

Hi cowgirl63,
just download dvdshrink,a free software that shrinks overly long videos onto a 4.7 standard dvd disc. You can either download from free software sites like afterdawn.com or just google it.

you can either choose to buy a few dual layer DVDs (if your burner supports that format) or decide to change the encoding of the movie to long play while still using Nero

Peerless,
thanks for the information, one question....how do you change the encoding of the movie to long play?

muhctekdano February 22nd, 2007 10:34 AM

Open Nero Vision.

Click the More button on the bottom of the screen...click video options...click the DVD-video tab...click quality setting and scroll down to 'long play'

Hope this helps
