rookie mistake... damn... I really messed up, I downloaded some files, and I forgot to scan the files after I finished. I've caught at least 4 different files that were viruses, but I quickly quarantined them. This last time I used LW I downloaded some, but I forgot to scan, and just as luck would have it, I got a virus. McAffee detected the virus halfway as I was playing the song. [what are the odds. huh? McAffee failed me...] I deleted the file. So, now, every 30 seconds, I get a 'pop-up like' message... (on the taskbar, a bubble) It says: Type: Virus/Network Worm Damage Level: High Description: Virus that infects executable files. Recommendation: Delete/Quarantine immediately. Protection: Click this baloon to download certified Antivirus software. note: I am very cautious. About what I say, do, hear, .. ect ect... So I noticed that the word balloon in the message was misspelled. So, I am not sure if I can trust this baloon. I'm no expert at this kind of stuff, I ran a scan (McAffee) on my computer, and I found nothing. So, any experts that can help me out on this one? .. |
I just killed that puppy on my sister-in-law's computer. Get both [Ad-Aware] and [Spybot Search and Destroy], update both and clean up your system. |
Vicarious AW is quite correct, what you have got is some sort of malware trying to trick you into downloading something that is certainly designed "not to do you any good". The sooner you zap it the better. UK Bob |
I believe that the balloon directs you to malware disguised as antivirus software. Take my advice...don't download it!!! I recently had a run-in with this 'balloon'... Good Luck :o Dano |
Yeah, I was suspicious from the start... but I think that as-ware helped out. Thanxs guys.. Now... to make some space... |
