Default Sexually Explicit Movies

It is possible to set up parental controls in order to prevent youngsters from accessing the Adult (Sexually Explicit) files?

My son accessed them and I duplicated his steps. I want to block that particular content.

There aren't any parental controls in LW, but you can filter out offensive files with the keyword filter. You can find it by going to Tools>Options>Filters>Keywords, and add words from there. Also on the LW search page click on "Whats New" on the lower left of the page, and tick the box "Hide Adult Content".

There's no way to completely block adult content from LW. Some people mislabel porn files with innocent names, and you won't know what it is until you play it.

Yeah I wish there were a way to so that too. As today I thought I was opening up "******" but what I got, with my daughter watching was in fact a porno. So please beware, open and watch first before allowing it to be viewed by your children.

Yeah, It's a good idea to preview files when they get to 10-15%. Then if they're not what you thought just cancel the d/load.

The user (your kids ..) can change the filter at wish. Limewire does not even provide a minimal protection like this. By the way this would be far then secure, but better than nothing.
Since the programmers do not think of it despite many and many request and questions on the subject, it could be they are putting themselves porn on limewire ..

as you were probably downloading illegal copyright material anyway (i would say 99.9% of p2p users do), you shouldn't moan that your kids got to see porn.
instead put into practise your ethical beliefs by not downloading from p2p...

Default Misguided Parents

Lulli17

I am a parent myself I can say this, in all truthfulness, that you are misguided. If you had done any research into this product you would have found out that this software is not a childs' toy, in fact most of us in this forum have always said that this product should not be used by anyone under 16 without supervision.

First of all, this software is not a music, video or game downloading application, it is a file sharing application that allows you, as a PC owner, share files with other PC owners from all over the world. As PC owners happen to be adults the files they share will be of an adult nature and the only controls are self control. Therefore, there is no central file server just hundreds of thousands, perhaps millons, of PCs that this software allows you to connect with.

Now, if you want to download music, films, etc. from a controlled/regulated environment then you should use your browser and download from Amazon.com or similar.

Just remember that no one can tell adults what they can or cannot share on their own PCs, and some adults can be pretty sick, so therefore it is down to you to protect your children, not the Limewire Org., or anybody else.

So next time you purchase software for your children do a bit of research into what it does before accusing anyone of "putting porn" out there.
