Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Not a clue about LimeWire Not even sure what LimeWire is. My daughter dowloaded this program a long time ago and is since gone and living on her own. From what I gather at first glance this is some type of FTP program for music and videos. I can't even find an icon and have searched my computer for a clue. NOTHING. AHH! The worst thing is that I want this thing to quit prompting me to download a newer version. I can't even find the OLD version. I think I would actualy like to delete this whole thing from my system but I can't even find it. What is it? Where is it? I just want it to stop! It may even be something that I would like to use. BUT until I can find out how to stop it from terrorizing me every time I turn my computer on, I feel like calling the X-Files. I'm afraid to click on the "upgrade now" link because I'm afraid it will do something sneaky without letting me say NO...get this thing away from me! When I run a search for it, do I need to search for a different file name? It's so frustrating that I just want it to go away. PLEASE, someone help me. I just want to UNINSTALL this thing. Thank you....Gary |

Windows users should uninstall LW via start > all programs > Limewire > uninstall or C:\Program Files\Limewire\uninstall. If you've tried to uninstall via add/remove programs, that can cause some problems & in that case use your computer's search to look for all files & folders with limewire in the name. Delete what you find. Are you getting these popups just the once, when you turn the computer on? Or are they popping up randomly all the time? If you're getting constant popups, sounds like you have a worm. This is usually caused by downloading an infected file! There's a fix here to try, it's worked for a lot of people. Click on the link below. The easy fix for Limewire popping up every few seconds (try this first) And more info here. WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! From....Not a Clue Whomever you are...(was it Australia?)...I thank you very much. I was able to find it with your help...I think anyway and have, again I think, successfully unistalled it. I failed to mention that I indeed am running Windows and was fortunate that you assumed (perfectly) that I was. It was only popping up on startup so I didn't think I had a worm as you suggested. It was just bugging the sh*t out of me. I"m not a very good Internet user but I usually muddle my way through, especially with help from good people like yourself. Actually LimeWire looks kinda cool and like something I might like to learn about and try sometime in the future. Maybe you could direct me to the easiest place to learn about this type of...I guess it's some type of file sharing program... for some cool stuff to do in my spare time. Doing these Forums is something I haven't done for a long time either. Thanks again and "g'day"(?)....Gary |
