I need to download the basic version of limewire to download music for free like my friend does. How do I go about it?

Download LW from here.
http://www.limewire.com/download/

Use the offline installer (less chance of corruption): When you click to download & the dialog box pops up, cancel that & use the option to download the offline installer.
