You can uninstall the TopMoxie by following the following steps in order:

1. Close all your browsers.
2. Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and remove the TopMoxie partner module (such as Schoolcash or Technology4Kids) followed by the TopMoxie entry. Please note you must first remove the partner’s module before TopMoxie or the uninstall will leave an entry in you Add/Remove Programs.
3. Delete the file folder c:/program files/topmoxie.
4. Empty your recycle bin.

Like most software programs, TopMoxie does add some entries to your registry but they do not change the behavior of your PC once the application has been uninstalled. These entries should not be removed unless done by an experienced computer user."

Top Moxie and the partner modules are not in my ADD/REMOVE program....

i think you ahve to remove the "partner module" first. Or can't you find LW either?

I can find LW but Top moxie and the other partner modules aren't in Add/Remove... I used AD-Aware and got rid off All of the other crap... BUt top Moxie and JAVARUN>EXE still haunt me... IS it bad if JAVARUN.exe whats to be a server? Shoule i have ZOME alarm say NO???

I said that we should not have fully trusted Cydoor to set up bundling deals for us. Again, ALMOST EVERY OTHER MAJOR FILE SHARING APPLICATION DID THE SAME DAMN THING!!

We do spend the vast majority of our time focusing on improving the LimeWire software. You can use whatever file sharing program you want -- feel free (since you are). If you find one that doesn't rely on some form of advertising or bundling revenue that will last longer than a year, let me know.

Just a minor point -- Gnutella is not open source. Gnutella is an open protocol, like HTTP, SOAP, Jabber, etc. LimeWire the program is open source.

I am an end user but I always paid respect to developers, in fact, generally more than they deserve.

When I first saw Limewire, said "thats it!" and whole the unix developer scene was talking about it too...

Modifying end users current URLs? Oh, not just that, because of you and your CRAP business tactics, I had to block java from accessing the internet first time in my life.

We were also being truthful when we proclaimed that we were not aware that this software reported information back to ClickTillUWin, as were four or five other software companies being truthful when they claimed not to have been aware that this was the case when they included it with their programs.

As far as LimeShop goes, there are many companies that profit from affiliate programs as well --- www.ebates.com, for example. We prefer this method of making money to using advertising, as we feel that it annoys users less and does not change the user experience. We have been in contact with RoadRunner Sports to correct the glitch that was causing them problems.

So, while I symapthize with your frustration regarding these issues, I really do not think that we have been anything but truthful in these matters. I also ask you to recognize that we have tried to provide the users with as many options as possible while still allowing LimeWire to exist, providing optional installs of bundled software and providing the LimeWire Pro alternative.

easy. If you ever see java(add something).exe trying to access to Internet while you don't run Limewire (happened to me at startup), DENY ACCESS and REMEMBER THAT RULE.

Uninstall Limewire, run Ad-aware, get gnucleus (open source, REAL opensource including the PHILOSOPHY OF OPENSOURCE) http://www.gnucleus.com

BTW, developer guys... End users aren't such stupid you may think of. What a lame tactic that running it via java virtual machine (oh, congrats on first Java spyware btw, thats the Java concept we dreamed of) and knowing end user has ALREADY given access to Java to run Limewire, another Java program which he/she really wanted to do.

We're currently working on the problem with the LimeShop installer being flagged by Norton, and we should have this fixed shortly. It's an installer problem, and it is not an issue in terms of any actual malicious scripts being run.

As far as these other issues, LimeWire very much supports and adheres to the open source philosophy and movement. "Free as in free speech, not as in free beer," remember?? Open source creates an open standard that allows code to get better -- it allows code to become a part of the public commons for the betterment of all. That's what we're about -- creating a network that works well for everyone.

At the same time, we need to make money. LimeShop is a way to make money that we feel is much less intrusive than the excessive amounts of spyware bundled with other applications. It does not affect the user adversely in our view.

As far as giving Java a bad name, I honestly find that laughable. LimeWire is the most widely used desktop Java application ever created. Sun meets with us regularly to discuss the future of Java and the direction they should go. Our distribution numbers for JREs rival Sun's own. Believe me that suing us is the last thing on Sun's mind.

Finally, for any Unix developers out there, why not just use LimeWire on Unix, where none of this is an issue?
