Help With Download Speeds Is there a way to find out my upload and download speeds on my computer without contacting my provider. I have a cable connection. Thanks for any help. |
Do a couple speed tests. Try doing them at different times of the day to get a good average of your speed. At peak usage times your speed will probably be slower than at off peak times. Speakeasy - Speed Test Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test Don't get confused between kilobits(kbs) and kilobytes(KBs), there are 8 bits to 1 Byte. So if the test shows results in kilobits, divide by 8 to get kilobytes. LW shows speeds in kilobytes: SpeedGuide.net :: Bits/Bytes Calculator |
Upload and Download speeds Thanks I did the test and the results are: Download 847 kbs Upload 287 kbs Is this good? |
That's pretty good. That would make your d/load speed about 105KBs and upload 35KBs. That's alot better than dialup ;). You'd need to know what your connection speed is supposed to be to see how it compares. You usually don't get quite as fast as the advertised speeds. |
