Is there any way I can identify a download that requires the "Dom Player". I know this is a trojan and I have no intention of downloading it but I am wasting so much time downloading items only to find I can't play anything.

RWhite, What File extensions are you trying to download that requires the Dom Player??
This will help to help clean up a lot of the BS.

What I have done that works really well is to go to Tools > Options > Filter > Keywords and then add these file extensions: .wma, .exe, .rar, .html, .com, .zip, .mov. Be sure to click Apply and O.K. There are a ton of fake and corrupt files with these extensions. I will only download mp3 files that are larger than 2000kb - 3000kb. Also make sure thay have a bitrate.

Also use the Keyword Filter to filter out select words that may be a concern. (same filter as the extensions above)

Well the facts are that I was trying to download a movie and there were over 30 entries for this particular movie, however after hours of downloading I found that they would only play if I downloaded "Dom Player" (which I did not). So my problem is how do I tell if it's a genuine film copy or not.

If you had read through the links, you would have found your answer. Right-Click serach result and choose lookup file with Bitzi.

Only way as many of the filenames of corrupt files match genuine names.
