Movie DOWNLOAD DOESN'T PLAY

Hi Wonder if anyone knows why I can't play a movie (first time trying this) I downloaded - it launches in Movieplayer and then a message about a codec being installed successfully comes up but it doesn't start and just keeps going throught the codec message. If anyone knows how to make it work, I thank you in advance! Have a great Memorial Day weekend, all.
