Limewire is a safe program that is used by many. Perhaps it was something you downloaded or something unrelated but im fairly sure limewire is being falsely accused for the crash of your dell. Mac’s run on a different operating system (not XP like most of the world), but other than that can be used like any other computer and limwire should work on it. If your concerned about download safety only dl mp3 or m4a files from limewire, in other words music files.

Since there are no known mac OSX viruses out there, you are safe to use LW on a macbook as many others including moderators on this forum do. For help with LW on macs, check the mac sections of this forum, most notably Installation > OSX & General OSX sections, "if" you have problems or if you wish to find out information.

However, LW on OSX does use a lot of RAM & VM (Virtual Memory), so you are wise to have 500 MB or more ram & more than 10 GB free space on your OSX system hard disk drive. Also make sure your Java is up to date; Updating software on Mac OSX
