They're probably still there. The location of the library has been moved in the newer versions of LW and your files are probably still in the old location.

my problem is a bit more ominous - please help!

last week, my wife got a pop-up asking if she wanted the new version of limewire. she got it and now all of our downloaded .mp3 files are gone, including quite a few that had nothing to do with limewire except they were all in the same folder (my music). the only files that escaped deletion were some that my son had in his own folder. i did a search of .mp3 files on our computer and could only find the ones in my son's folder.

at the same time, limewire will not connect anymore. it will only say that it is connecting and never connect to the point where one can search/download.

any ideas? i tried system restore and could not recover the deleted file, nor could i use the old version of limewire.

help!

please leave the post that is posted where it will do the most good, and delete the post that is in the inapproriate place.

thanks.

Hey No Problem.
The Link above will tell you that the File Locations have changed in the Later Versions of LW. You havn't lost your Files. You may need to redirect them to the old location and they should go back into the LW Library.

The Connection problem may be fixed by deleting the Prefs Folder. This will require you to reset All of your settings so write them down before you delete. See Link below for more Info.

If LW will not connect

i'll give that a try. the scary part is that a search of the hard drive turned up no .mp3 files at all, except the few that were in my son's folder. even if the file locations had changed, i would think that they'd still be found on a search?

am in the middle of a second system restore, will try redirecting after that.

thanks!

ron

Do a Search by the Title of a known file, Not by .mp3. Search All Files/Folders. This should give you the Old Path.
