RIAA is coming for Limewire

I take no pleasure in saying this but I think the RIAA will target Limewire sometime in the near future with the recent collapse of FastTrack and growth of Gnutella. Even though nobody owns gnutella, their is no reason why the RIAA cant take Limewire to court and just bankrupt them with court fees. This worries me very much. I think it may be wise to start decentralizing the gnutella routers that connect u to the network - as a way to lessen gnutellas dependence on Limewire and put them at a better argument as to why they have no control over gnutella content and usage. Best of luck to team Limewire.

I agree. The soon to be released Bearshare 2.5.0 keeps an internal cache of hosts, which means it doesn't need to connect to a public hostcache - except for the very first time run. I think it would benefit Limewire to do something similar in a future release.

Well, this page can give you much more info. Fastrack&Gang didn't collapse all by themselves.

Check the story, look at the big picture, be amazed.

About Limewire being shut down? Um, no. No centralized server on gnutella. At the worst, you can go and get their lists from BBS'es! or.. IRC...

IMHO no need to be panicked.
