Problems With Protected Songs Hi, I'm new to this forum (and indeed any forum!) so I apologise in advance if I seem stupid! I've been downloading music from Limewire for years and so far have had no problems burning CD's. However, when I tried to re-burn some particular tracks I was unable to do so because they have apparently become protected overnight! How is this possible, and what can I do about it? I hope I don't have to re-download them, as some of them were very hard to find! Any help would be greatly appreciated, as would using very simple English as I'm not technically inclined and am fairly computer illiterate! Thanks. |

Hi Remoc and thanks for your interest. I have Windows Vista, which I've had for over 18 months, and keep my music downloads in Windows Media Player, from where I also burn cds. As mentioned in my original message, until a few days ago I had no problems burning, but now, for no apparent reason that I can think of, tracks that had previously been burned without any problem, now won't burn, and WMP tells me that I have no right to either burn or play them! What is different now? Nothing that I know of. I don't understand your reference to itunes, as I don't even know what they are! (Told you I'm computer illiterate!) I simply download songs from Limewire then burn them onto cds that I can play in any cd player. Another thing I noticed recently is that I downloaded a few more tracks from Limewire and with 2 of them, when I went into the advanced tag editor to fix up the details, all the words were blanked out and I therefore couldn't edit them. That's never happened before - what does it mean? Hope you can shed some light on this for me. Thanks. Carole |

Hi Carol, This Link may shed some light on your issue. I personally will NEVER EVER Use WMP for Reasons like this. There are Many Very Good Media Players out there that will not cause you any grief. I Hope this Helps. Windows Media Player DRM: frequently asked questions - Windows Vista Help |

Thanks Remoc. I will go to the link suggested and see how I go. Can you recommend a media player? I'd always thought WMP was ok and I didn't know there were others that I could use instead. As long as it's compatible with Vista I'm willing to try anything. Thanks again for your interest. Carole |
