I have a problem. When I want to open LimeWire it doesn't work.
You see the sandglass, buth it can't open. I see no screen, if there is a problem. Nothing...
Do I have to change my firewall, my internet, etc.
Donno a thing how i should fix it. PLS help

have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling limewire?

Could suggest the same as annzee74: try uninstall and re-install again..

I have upgraded 2 the latest - but had i known, that the new program gives alot lesser downloads AND that i cant download by language; i had never upgraded.. i simply cant find any old danish groups now - i surely could in old version..

Only good bout new version: when u delete a file, it really delete it - not like old version, that kept file in spec. folder..pff lol

I wish U the best in using LimeWire - and if U ask me: use the old version.. i surely find that much better than new..

after I
reformated my laptop I couldnt get my LW PRO to work ... again no bars no conection
6 attemts to install from CD even reformated HD again
and yes i did reinstall java again too attemted the manual port forward
with diffrent number combinations ... 4 days of horror by that time I
nearly gave up


... when i rembered i had the same problem when i first got LW in 2005 .. only a few month after buying my first Laptop ( never owned or used a computer back then ) not a newbie no more

IT worked for me might work for others ( good luck )
i downloaded latest LW of the net and restarted laptop and reinstaled
LW PRO on top he he

all back in working order again

Glad to hear. I suspect/guess the connection cache (gnutella.net) file might have been out of date. LW 5 has better abilities at finding fresh ultrapeers than the older versions.

why i couldnt get it to work is still a mystery to me
as i used the same LW PRO CD to install limewire (about 10 month ago) on the same laptop when i upgraded my old toshi to a new and faster model first step was Install LW ... and start downloading

im still curius to figure out ... as to why it wouldnt conect the set up should be the same as far as i can figure out

LW 4 has had problems in recent times when using old gnutella.net files to find hosts to connect to. LW 5 can find them automatically if it does not have such a file initially. So installing LW 5 may have updated the gnutella.net file with 'good' recent hosts to connect to. This is my guess at least.

We do offer an update for the gnutella.net file at the bottom of this post If LW 4 Will Not Connect (click on the blue link). However you will not need that now.

But .. you now know that if you install LW 4 again on a fresh computer, you will most likely need a 'fresh' newer gnutella.net file to add to it.
