Blocking and freeloaders Do these features work? I share about 175 movies (tjw), and am always looking for more. I have happened on some files from people who I'd like to block. And I can't stand freeloaders. I have the 'rarely allow freeloaders' checked, but I would like to know if it is working. Thanks!! |

Sometimes, when i have too much time on my hands, I will look at the 'monitor' screen to see which files people are copying from me. When there is the little sunny face next to it I click 'browse host' and 9 times out of ten it will not allow me to do that. Of course, the ones that have NO smiley face I don't even try, and - when I have a whole lot of time on my hands - I will stop those downloads altho they start up within a few seconds. It's annoying; I share more than 3500 files with others. When I cannot access <sp?> their files it ticks me off - understatement but I want to keep it clean. I have changed the number of files that I expect people to share with me. For the amount I share with others I think that 100 files in return is not too much to ask. Or am I too picky?? |

I share almost 7,000 files, but I limit the number of files one person can download at one time. That has the advantage that since I share a wide variety of media formats & tastes, it allows a broader audience to download from me at same time. It stops one or two people 'hogging' all the upload slots. The disadvantage is that if a person selects too many files to download from me at one time, they get pushed off for that session, I occasionally see messages showing up, "Banned Greedy Servent", lol (Sample of this, which went on for about an hour btw, they must have selected thousands of files.) It was after that occasion I limited slots from 3 to 2 per person to be a little stricter. |
