Default Lost all files Can they be found??

Sorry in advance if i am in the wrong part of the site posting this. A quick question if anyone can help me out there. I was opening limewire on my pc when there was a quick blackout/power supply cut to the house. This has resulted in me losing all my music/video files. Is there a way of getting these back. Tried a systems restore on pc all to no avail, as it wouldnt let me restore to prior date. Pretty much program/systems ignorant when it comes to these sort of things, so if anyone can help, i will need you to pretty much walk me through each stage of the process in simple terms. Hope someone can help, thanks in advance all,
Eddie

Hi Eddie,

Are you sure that the files have been lost? Maybe LW's settings have reverted to default after the power went out - then saving/sharing locations might have changed.

Check out the thread here for possible locations (don't worry that the thread refers to after an update): http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...downloads.html

Otherwise, use your computer's search to look for some of the mising file names or file extensions (eg .mp3, .wma etc).

If the files really are gone then the thread above also has links to file recovery advice

If you're still stuck then you need to let us know what OS you're using & also what version of LW.

Also when i looked into my documents and click onto the limewire folder, there is 3 folders (1) SAVED which is empty? (2) Incomplete, again empty and (3) STORE PURCHASED, again likewise, or should i say when clicked on, there is nothing but an empty page?? Thanks for your response too yeah! Much appreciated..sorry for delay in my replies as i am trying to sort as i go along and as i said before...this kind of thing is not my forte..please bear with i as i go along...and if you can put instructions in really easy terms, would appreciate...heads melting here, thanks again

Hey Eddie,
Them folders you noted are the default folders for LimeWire, they make them when LW is installed. There is no need to worry, ONLY if you use a custom folder to save your files.

If you're having more luck with a general search for files (rather than looking in the default saving/sharing locations for your LW version) - look for whatever video formats you might have. For eg .avi, .mpeg, .H264, .wmv, .mov, .mkv or search for the video titles

And for photos, have a search for .jpeg or .jpg, .gif, .png, .tif, .tiff & see whether your files show up

PS We're having your kind of weather here today & it's horrible (still only 12º at half past 1 & it's been hailing all day)

What do you mean our kind of weather lol?? We are nearly some ten years into a drought here mate..Sunny 18c here mate..sun is splitting the trees... just a little windy though. Not to fond of the rain either, as i work out in the open at the airport servicing certain aircraft when they land, so hope you keep the hail, could do with the rain though to be fair, just on my days off though... And fair dues and thanks for all that yeah, its working a treat!

I was more referring to the temps We're not used to these cold days. Depending where you are in Vic, you might be used to much colder weather than we are. Perth's a windy place, so we're pretty used to that (don't have to like it though - I hate the wind).

Friends came over from Melbourne a couple of months ago & said how dry it is there now. I lived in Vic in the 90s & can't imagine it dry - it was all so green then & there was no such thing as water restrictions.

Hopefully some of the rain (& no hail) we're getting here makes it into Vic. It's been our wettest winter for quite a while. Here's hoping the drought breaks for you guys
