.au file extension I've searched the forums and have not really come up with anything regarding whether or not a file with the au extension will do nasty things to my computer - when I've been d'loading on LW (5.3.6) a pop up tells me my computer might be a risk. However sometimes the only files available to d'load are .au files. Any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated! Cheers, m |

Google is your Best Friend . AU File Extension - Open .AU files If an .au file is any worse than other files from the Gnutella Network, I'm sure it would have been posted here on this forum. I didn't search the forum, so I'll take your word for it. If you d/l .au files and you feel uncomfortable about it, make sure you scan the files, umm EVERYTHING that you d/l off of the Network, before opening. |

Several months back I put .au on the recommended block list of extensions / filter words; Keyword Filter list. I think you'll find all .au files in search results are spam. Here's some good tips How to find music |

Thank you both for your quick reply - I had googled and then was promptly confused after reading the results as it is mentioned that the .au is not one of those 'auto evil' extensions.....I'll read up on the how to find music info and see what I can come up with as far as the artists I search for and getting nothing but .au files - thanks to these boards I have managed to figure out how to get more general results than I was before with the tweaks I found. These boards are a great resource!! Thanks again! I'll get it all figured out eventually! lol Cheers! Last edited by maggieofar; October 9th, 2009 at 09:03 PM. Reason: replaced without with with. |
