Confused LimeWire 5.2.13Pro vs. former LimeWire versions (OS X 10.5.8)

With previous versions of LimeWire I was able to share and upload newer movies and cable shows. Now, wiith LimeWire Pro (5.2.13 Pro), I cannot.
Also, the newest LimeWire version doesn't show "broken links" (files you tried to upload but couldn't). Do I need more "codecs"?
If anyone has ideas on how I can share and download newer movies and newer cable shows. I have a Mac OSX vn 10.5.8. My internet is DSL.

Please share your thoughts. Thanks.

I'm not a Mac user but here goes... I'm a bit confused about your post - do you not see any uploads at all per session? Have you added files to your Public Shared list, so that other people can download from you? Is LW showing you as behind a firewall (in LW Tools > Advanced Tools)?

In LW's preferences > Advanced > Transfers do you have 'clear uploads from list when finished' ticked? If so, untick that box > ok. Now all uploads per session will be shown.
Or are you seeing an error message with attempted uploads? I can't remember all the upload error messages across the different versions, but some are 'upload limit reached', 'unable to complete upload', 'unable to upload no error'.

And are you having trouble with downloads as well?? What happens when downloads fail (download stalls, won't connect etc)? Are you checking files with Bitzi before download (control+click > View File info > More File Info)? What file types won't download? Is it all files or just occasionally?

Is your LW properly connected (all green/blue connection bars)?

Codecs are needed to view downloaded files on a media player. Doesn't sound like that's your problem

The number one message I receive is from QuickTime: "Additional software is required for QuickTime to play back this media. It may be available from the QuickTime Components page. Make sure your internet network connection is active, then click the Continue button to check for the software."

I don't see any green/blue connection bars.
Often I get this message: "The movie could not be opened - An invalid public movie atom was found in the movie".

I registered at BITZI but what is it all about? I'm not as advanced as you are in these matters.

I would recommend using VLC - (click on link) which has all the codecs & support built into the player that you will need for any video or audio file you find on the Gnutella network. If VLC cannot play the file then an extremely high chance there is a problem with the file itself (corrupted or fake.)
QuickTime itself only comes with basic codec support. If you really wish to download plug-ins (codecs) for it then you should download codecs like Perian & perhaps Flip4Mac. See http://www.gnutellaforums.com/292880-post4.html
Via QuickTime Preferences you can also install other 3rd party software but not much there you will need for video files you find on Gnutella network.

Bitzi is a site where people can report files. Mostly video files are reported there. How to use Bitzi Web Lookup scroll down to post #6.

At bottom left corner of LW's screen you will see the connection bars. If grey or red then not connected.

Thank you very much for your help. I'll check into all of your info and put it to work. Hopefully I can upload and share movies and tv shows like I used to be able to on previous versions of LimeWire.

If you'd just said that in the beginning then you might've been able to get appropriate help faster
You said that you had problems with uploads & downloads... not problems with playing already downloaded files.

If you have other ideas besides a helpful Lord of the Ring's now that you see the specific error message, do share.
