Default Need help with Limewire Speedup Pro.

I downloaded and installed LW Speedup pro, turned it on and selected the correct network interface but I haven't noticed any difference.
I saw a comment on Youtube that said they downloaded a 23GB file in 10 mins which sounds a bit impossible, but I have read on many website's that it give's an increase of up to 200%.
Does it still work? does this have something to do with the Pirate edition?

Do I have to configure LW in such a way so that it recognises that it's there?

Thanks a lot.

I sure hope you didn't pay for something like that.

A 100Mbit line with no overhead (which isn't even possible) can do around 7,3GB in 10 minutes, so speeds like that would need both seeder and leecher to have Gbit lines i.e. very expensive dedicated servers. Something I very much doubt you'll find any of on the Gnutella network. Except maybe from anti piracy spammers.

As long as I can remember, makers of bogusware have been selling "so-called" utilities to speed up Limewire, so there is no real surprise that you've found your "Limewire Speedup Pro" to be bogus.

These bogusware makers prey on naive users of successful products, they're just as bad as scammers who sell free Limewire with a non-existent lifetime membership to their non-existent club.

As you said:

That should have been your first clue, it's just too good to be true.

I hope so too.

Yeah well I had an idea it wasn't going to be real especially since it wasn't discussed here before, but I said Id give it a try, also the website had a big list of different Speedup programs (not the greatest looking website though) but not in a faulty way!, I also checked the account of that comment on Youtube and it looked fairly established with lots of friends and a lot of activity (which is wierd).
But just there I've checked the account of the uploader and he hasn't been online since the day he uploaded it ,
And don't worry I had no intention of paying for it lol.

What do these guys get out of this, is it after doing something to my PC or do they just claim people with adds on their page? because it is 100%free (free of anything usefull).

Well, who knows and who cares but the one thing I do know is that it's not going to do you or your PC any good.

You see, malware writers are now in bed (embedded, if you like) with professional criminals so they could be planting anything on your machine that will further their illegal endeavours.

So be smart and be careful, stay away from anything on the Internet that is too good to be true because, more than likely, it's bogus.

And remember, there is nothing that can protect you more than your own common sense.

PS. Don't forget to uninstall and delete all remnants of "Limewire Speedup Pro".

Yeah it's well gone anyway, yeah I should have been more carefull 'it was indeed too good to be true, if you could do something like that 'Limewire would have supplied it. I guess I'm stuck with the speed I have and that's it.

These types of speedups have been around for several years. The LW team tested a couple, found them to be fake. And I recall user reports on them from 5 yrs back were they didn't make any difference & one reported trojan or something that mucked up their system.
