Where does lost music go?

I joined this P2P thingy for reasons of 2 fold:

Being slightly impoverished, I want to sample music and determine what to buy and mostly, what NOT TOO!

Also, I have some music that will surely be lost because the CD's are no longer produced and the band has dismembered (truly SUCKS). I would be honored if I could facilitate this music into a timeless nature such as a P2P. Unfortunately, my connection is terribly slow (read: "cheap") however I leave the connection up for extended periods. Interestingly, I have 'searched' for the band and expected my OWN listing to show up but it never does. I don't even really know what that means (is it accessible to everyone or not?).
