No, but BearShare 4.1.0 will support Host Browsing which allows you to browse other user's shared files.

Kaapeli,

I was possible when you have a static IP or something like no-ip:

www.no-ip.com

or did this change?

Morgwen,

I have no idea what you are talking about.. Can you please clarify a bit?

(sorry if my reply took so long, I don't follow these forums so frequently)

You could type the IP adress in the older versions until 2..2.7 (the last I used), but I never was able to connect...

I tried it with a static IP like no-ip, you have a name instead your normal IP and a small application which updates your dynamic IP (the same like you have a real static IP), and I was able to connect...

Now I want to know if this is possible with the new versions of bearshare?

Oh yes, you mean the "Manually connect to host" option? Yes, that have been possible as long as I've been using BearShare (since 2.2.0). It should work when ever you try connecting to a non-firewalled host which has free slots. And now with ultrapeers, the host you're connecting to must have free peer or leaf slots, depending on your mode.

And actually, that no-ip.org service. It doesn't give a static IP address to you, it gives only a DNS name which always points to your IP address.

Yes but this has the same effect as a static IP.

So in theory it is possible to search by IPs, try to connect to that IP - if succesfull start a search, now you should find the files from this IP...

I have a static IP and I would not want everyone on Gnutella to know what it is.
