Shareaza firewall problem Greetings. I have a brand new pc with Vista (of course, no choice anymore). I installed Shareaza and it always gives me the message that it found a router or firewall. As far as I know, I have disabled all firewalls and I also forwarded the port that Shareaza wanted. Does anyone know of anything else I can try? Thank You! |

Make sure you're not firewalled with a test: Shareaza Connection Test - Atomo64 Copy and paste the results in too here. |

Here is the response from the test Results TCP: The TCP connection has timed out. This can be due to a stealth firewall or router that has not been configured properly for Shareaza. UDP: No answer has been received from your client. This can have various reasons, like that your firewall or router isn't properly configured for Shareaza, or Shareaza is not running on this port, or not connecting to the networks. At least one problem has been detected and you probably have to configure your firewall or router for Shareaza. If you need help with configuring your firewall or router, visit this page on the wiki: FAQ: Routers/Firewalls. Or search on the wiki: However, my router was configured to open the port for Shareaza. Obviously, there is something else going on. Any ideas? |

My ISP is Road Runner. I have 2 computers that run Shareaza; a very old one that I just use for Shareaza. That computer runs with Windows XP without Service Pack 2. I forwarded the port in the router and Shareaza does not detect a firewall. My new pc (laptop) has Windows Vista. I am hoping to use the laptop for Shareaza and get rid of the old one. The laptop is the one I am having problems with. I do not have a firewall since I have the router. I also disabled the Windows firewall. My router is a "Netgear". I really appreciate your help. You are very kind! |

the last time I had severe UDP problems I just ended up reformatting...that solved the problem...never did figure out what was wacked, but I did spend a good deal of time trying to...in the end its many times quicker to just start all over again!

Quote: I have the same problem in that when I start up Shareaza I get the warning that i have a firewall. But I did the test you suggested above and everything comes back fine and I also made sure I configured winXPsp2 and Mcafee firewalls to allow access. So I don't understand why there is a firewall warning unless it does that automatically whenever there is a firewall?? |

I'm having a similar problem. I installed Service Pack 2 so I'd be on the same page as everyone else, even though ive been reading about it conflicting with shareaza. But it gave me a new insight into the problem: Every other internet program i run, Windows firewall asks me if I want to block it or not. But not for shareaza. So apparently it isn't even getting as far as my computer's own internal security, let alone my router or my ISP. It should also be noted that I have no problem sending or receiving data through any other applications. So I really doubt it has anything whatsoever to do with my router, my ISP, or even windows security. |
