The Linksys WRT54G series are reknown problematic routers. Their firmware has problems & Linksys never fully fixed the problem. They can be quite unreliable in UPnP mode, better port forwarded. Check for firmware updates all the same. Someone found a fix, however is not recommended for everyone to try since playing around with firmware could render your router inoperable if mistakes made; http://www.gnutellaforums.com/196843-post8.html BTW when you did the ShareAza port test, did you have ShareAza open? Best to have it open at that time of doing the test. Oh .. and also btw ... Norton & Windows firewall are reknown firewall clashers. They should not be both activated at same time. This results in 'less security' not more, plus other problematic issues. |

OldDeath - You solved it! I had to also set up port forwarding on my DSL modem to my wireless router IP address, in addition to the port forwarding from my wireless router to my computer IP. Perhaps someone should make this clearer in the Shareaza FirewallGuide Wiki, because I would never have figured this out from there and I can't imagine my situation (a DSL modem with a wireless router) is uncommon. Anyway, thanks a lot for your help! |

Lord of the Rings - thanks for your help too. I will check for firmware updates on the Linksys router to see if that can improve performance. Yes, Shareaza was open at the time of the connection tests. But I'm sure these ideas will help someone else reading this thread later. Thanks for the tip on the firewall clashers too. I only plan to use Windows Firewall when the Norton firewall free trial runs out. Until then, it stays off. |

I am having firewall and port recognition problems with Shareaza on a Mac using VMWare 4.1.3. THe Mac is running OSX 10.7.4. I have no other firewall or port problems with any other software on the VM environment, only Shareaza. It is not my ISP, not my Router, and not the windows 7 security feature within VM. ANy other suggestions? |

What problems are you experiencing in detail? What results does the connection test give you?

Are you using Shareaza? Are you passing the connection test (see help menu)?
