Moderators

There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving.
Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity)
Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum.
Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules.
Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted.
Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender.
Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration.

The Rules

1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement.

2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures.

3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum.

4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks.

5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement.

6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem.

7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required.

8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning.

9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online.

10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents.

11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection.

12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban.

13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts.

14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam.

15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.

Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis.

Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community.

Default Transfers window is empty...

I've got Shareaza 2.4. Then I Upgraded to 2.5, redirected shareaza to my old shareaza "incomplete" and "completed" folders, opened up the transfers screen and it was empty. I restarted shareaza, I re-started my computer. No luck. I deleted 2.5 and re-installed 2.4, same problem. Reverted my computer to before the 2.5 upgrade, still same problem. Win XP

How have you done the upgrade? (Uninstall followed by the new install or simply install over the previous version?)

EDIT: have you searched the Shareaza Wiki?

The first time I installed 2.5, I installed it over the existing 2.4 and thats when I found the "Transfers window" empty.
I uninstalled 2.5 using "Revo Uninstaller" (Revo cleans up leftover files after a programs uninstaller runs.), then I installed 2.4 again.

...note: (the directory with the incomplete files contains both .partial and .partial.sd files.) and my video player "Gom Player" plays these incomplete files, so I know the files are OK.

Also I found the following confusing and difficult, it claims to be a file by file fix;

Assume file is 100% Complete and Reverify

This is a small but very useful feature in Shareaza that allows you to accomplish many things with its hashing system. You can:

* Recover downloads that have been lost for any reason.
* Move downloads from several other P2P applications into Shareaza
* Fix downloads that have been corrupted in, for instance, Kazaa.
* Finish downloads that were started in some download managers.

NOTE: Since version 2.3.0.0, Shareaza also has an advanced edit function to merge an ongoing download with a file on the local file system. You can use this newer feature as an alternative to the procedure described below, and you may prefer to use this newer feature since it is a little easier. To use the merge option, from advanced edit, choose merge with local file and verify, in the dialog that comes up, navigate to the file you wish to merge with your ongoing download. Shareaza will merge parts it can verify from the file on your file system with the incomplete download.

The process to recover files is not too difficult, but you will need a little familiarity with computers to get it to work. It's a very useful trick to learn, however, especially if you do a lot of downloading. Make sure to back up the files you are trying to recover, in case you make a mistake.

1. First, you will need to get the file you want to recover. If it's a lost Shareaza download, it will be in C:\Program Files\Shareaza\Incomplete\ or your incomplete directory (if you set it to a different one). If it's a partial from another program, it will be in the download or incomplete directory for that program. Find the file you want to recover or repair, move it to another folder, such as the desktop. You may see a small file with the same name as the file you wish to recover, except with an SD file extension. You can delete this file.
2. You may wish to make a backup of the file you wish to recover, because the method to be used may destroy data. If you have a backup, you could then try the process again.
3. Start up Shareaza, and start a download of the same exact file. It must be exactly the same file, because any non-matching bits will be thrown away. Raza downloads have the SHA1 hash in the name, so it's easy to check the files match. With other downloads, you will have to be a little more careful to make sure you get the same file.
4. Allow the download to start and let it download a little bit. Then, pause the download.
5. Go to C:\Program Files\Shareaza\Incomplete\ (or your equivalent incomplete folder). ::File:Recover1.png::
6. Copy the file name of the new download.
7. Delete the new download. Do not delete the new SD file!
8. Rename the download you want to recover to the name you copied, and move it into the C:\Program Files\Shareaza\Incomplete\ (or other incomplete folder). ::File:Recover2.png ::
9. Go back to Shareaza and unpause the download.
10. Right click on the download, Goto Advanced, Then Advanced Edit. ::File:Recover3.png::

Note: You must be in Power Mode (View > Power Mode) to access these features!

1. Click the Assume the file 100% Complete and Reverify.
2. Assuming everything is okay, A small green TTH bar should move across the download. The parts that are missing (or corrupt) will be in red, and will be re-downloaded

That's all there is to it! Shareaza will now recover any file, making 100% sure it's valid and in perfect condition. Any bad sections will be re-downloaded, so you are certain the file is good.
Common Problems

* If an box pops up saying you do not have any hash information when you click 'assume complete and reverify', then you need to let the download run a little longer while Shareaza gets the TTH or ed2k hash information. It should only take a few seconds in most cases. Just make sure the download has started, and it should work.
* If the entire verify bar fills in in red, you probably selected the wrong file to download in step 2. The files can't just be about the same thing, or similar. It has to be exactly the same file. There may be several versions of one file out there - make sure you select the correct one.

Well. First step: get v2.5.0.1 (can be found on the debug builds page here: Shareaza - Debug Builds). Use a 32 bit build (if you're working on a 32 bit OS, which should be the case). If you whish to report other bugs, use the debug build, else, use the release build (which uses a bit less CPU).

Is the transfers window still empty after the install?
How many transfers did you loose?
if you didn't loose hundreds of downloads, I'll describe you an easy way to get them back with some work:
1. create a magnet link for some random file out of your library.
2. Move your incompletes to a different folder
3. For each incomplete (except for the torrents, which will be lost unfortunately), use your magnet delete everything out of your created magnet link (1.) except for the type of hash included in the filename. Now replace the hash of your magnet link with the hash included in the filename.
4. enter the newly created link into Shareazas search window input area and hit enter (followed by "download")
5. Now use the "merge with local file and verify" feature for the file you've just added and choose the matching partial file.
6. repeat this for all .incomplete files.

PS.: Merging might not work before the download has fond some sources, so just add all files to your download list using the described procedure and merge after all your downloads have been merged again.
