Exclamation Shareaza 2.5.3.0 released.

Today, Shareaza v2.5.3.0 has been released.

Since the last version (2.5.2.0), there have been 192 changes to the code, so this is only a minor version change, consisting mostly of internal changes, but you should notice lots of small things running more smoothly now and the number of possible crashes having further been reduced. There haven't been any great new features and big visible changes, except for the new scheduler, which adds a new window and much more control over what's going on - plz note that to use it, switching to "Power Mode" is required (View menu). Also, the IRC window has been made more useful on smaller screens by changing its appearance a little bit.

As always, the new version can be downloaded from our download page on Shareaza - Bringing P2P Together (once it has been updated) and from our project page on SourceForge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/shareaza/
Note that this version comes again in two different "flavors", an SSE2 optimized and a "normal" build. We do recommend using the SSE2 optimized build on every computer that supports SSE2, so on computers having at least an Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64 processor, as it is faster than the non-optimized one.

mfg,
Old

I tried shareaza after the shutdown of my favorite one. It took a minute to get use to, the layout is nice and cool colors. After getting use to it did some file searching and was quite pleased with all the files it found alot more than my favorite but i quickly noticed that after clicking on a file to download it sit there and sit there and i was like what is going on. It would say cue in line number whatever and i wait and wait. Then i notice every now and then names of files would turn bold black while others remain grey. Does that mean who is online or offline to download from and is it always like that? if so is there a older version that is better?

i was using 2.5.3.0 it look really good but i was getting impatient with the waiting in cue and nothing happens then when a name becomes bold black it will download if it is grey it wont do nothing. Not sure why unless those peers are not online is the only logic i can think of.

hmmmm...

Do you pass the connection test? (It can be found in the Help menu and not passing it might be the issue causing you to wait.)

Sorry for the late reply i tried all the possibilities from allow through the firewall to setting ports then my hard drive goes out it was not my lucky day. Wait for payday and get a new one i'm using my brothers laptop for this week then i get my hp back to working but the connection test mention firewall and ports so i check my westell c90-610030-60 modem added the ports to allow and did the same to systemsuite firewall settings and windows firewall was not on and i did the ipaddress ping test and i was behing a lan router and logged in and change those ports to allow and after all that no connection and later on the hard drive failer alarm on systemsuite flashes hard drive crash imminent back up immediately. so wait for payday and a new hard drive and a clickfree or hp simple save backup drive a month later. Thanks for all the help

Is it simply a modem? It may have in-built NAT or/& other kind of protection. Westell are known for issues. I presume it attempts to use UPnP right? You might be best port forwarding the Westell device for ShareAza.
A quick search, seems your model does have NAT, etc. portforward.com forum - Westell C90-610030-60

Unless I'm mistaken, this is your model: PortForward.com - Port Forwarding Shareaza on the Westell C90-610030-06, if not it, the instructions will be very close if not the same as yours. I never was good at maths, who cares about carrying a one or zero across. lol

Always first step is to set up a Static ip address otherwise the port forward process will not work.

OldDeath will be able to help you with ports needed for the different networks ShareAza connects through. Default 'official' port for Gnutella network is 6346, however using this specific port is not necessary, basically any port can be used so long as it does not conflict with other officially used port numbers.

Normally I'd be redirecting you to this page of our Wiki: https://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawi...rewallsRouters

However since sourceforge.net has been shut off for 2 days now due to security problems, you will not be able to reach that page. As Lord of the Rings already said, the default port that needs to be forwarded on TCP and UDP is 6346. However you can use the guides provided on portforward.com for correct manual setup. Also note that you need to configure your firewall, too (and in case you are using one different from the integrated Windows firewall, keep in mind you can only use one firewall simultaneously, so you will have to disable the Windows one in that case).
