![]() Ok Mr. Programmer, I have found a qucik fix to this problem upon freezing upon fianlizing the install of the pro version. Upon installation it freezes at the unpack 2000.exe or just stops at finalization try this. Leave the program where it freezes at with the 2 boxes up telling you it is finalizing. Now hit control + alt + delete and bring up the task manager. Now very carefully locate all instances of any temp files being listed one by one and end process on those .... these are temp files that are being created each time the process is ended on each one. Now note everytime you end process on each one of the temp files the meter on the install process box goes up .... keep doing this process until the installation is complete. NOTE: The temp files I am speaking of have numbers in front of the temp file EXAMPLE: ns41.temp, ns.temp of any kind or any temp file. Seems as though the program for some reason is creating these temp files and this is jamming it or stalling it. Hope this helps everyone with this. Oh and before I found this out I downloaded the version 4.4.1 GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! Oh and for the price of this fix I am adding a signature link to this forum and respect that it be left here in tact. ![]() We've released a new version, LimeWire 4.4.2 that should fix this. (I know I said that last time, but this time I really mean it.) The download pages still say 4.2.6, but you'll get 4.4.2 when you download. If you could please confirm for us that this build works, we'd appreciate it. Thanks. (And special thanks to Rick for isolating the problem and coming up with a workaround.) |

![]() IROQ -- You seem to be the only person who's still having the problem with this new release. Everyone else who's contacted me (a good number of people) have said the new version works. I suspect something is wrong on your end -- perhaps you didn't actually download the newer version, or launched the older one. Nonetheless, we've released another version, LimeWire 4.4.3 that contains another layer of failover, such that if it detects LimeWire is stalling on this stage, it will stop and download the already-unpacked files instead of unpacking them itself. Thanks. |

![]() Quote:
I was forced to use the restart button. This is the same result with any installation of LimeWire I have tried. I am using Windows98se and LimeWire folder shows in my program files also J2SE runtimeEnvironment 5.0update1 shows in the Add/Delete program files. I can get the program to run by clicking on LimeWire Executable Jar File but it does not install. the program appears to be fully functional but after closing I can only reaccess thru the Jar file. Is there a possible conflict with other programs such as Zone Alarm or Giant Antispyware etc. if so is there a work around.? Finally since the program doesn't show in the Add/Delete program files I tried to manually uninstall version 4.4.1 and then attempt to reinstall -this did nodt work either. Have you any other suggestions as I would like to try out LimeWire because of recommendations from other users. |

![]() Dlddemon, For the cases where the default installer fails, we have provided a generic installer that works on almost all operating systems. You can download it here: http://www.limewire.com/LimeWireSoftOther It is a .zip file which you should unzip in a folder of your choosing. After you unzip it, there will be a LimeWire.exe file in that folder which you can double-click to start Limewire. Btw make sure the Java Runtime Environment is still installed on your computer (it should show in add/remove programs). Let us know how that works. |
