Unhappy Help

Aliright. It seems that i can install limewire fine, it is only when the window is open that my computer gets real lagey. This made me believe it was java, so i got the new java from the suggested fixs and still it does not work. I think I have been throught the suggested fixes for limewire like 4 times.

When I open lime wire by right click and run as.. i get this box in the middle of my screen, it is for java but it doesn't ever do anything, no info in the middle just a grey box that makes the computer laggy. If i just open it it will boot up, but it is very slow and takes like 10 mins before i can get to the search page. And as stated before it is really killing my comp. can barely move the mouse, however if i minimize the window, even if limewire is still loading up or running it goes back to working fine.

I tried both java suggestions, the older 1.4.... got me messages saying the limewire could not reconize or connect or soething with java and would not even open limewire. 1.5 got me the before mentioned. I have tried several times to reinstall both of these programs in different orders same order whatever it may be.

I have windows XP home edition with service pack 2.
umm... any other questions i will try to answer. Just looking for some help.

If you have already tried the first instructions go to the second.

1st, You will need to install Java and LimeWire manually First go to the first link. You can find Links to java in there Download Java to your hard drive by putting a mark in the save to disc box. Save it to my documents or wherever you save downloads from the internet. Do the same with LimeWire the second link will take you there.

Now with that done click on start then control panel add/remove programs and see if Java is listed on the list if it is uninstall it. Do the same with LimeWire if the un installers were not loaded you may have to manually delete the files. But in most cases this is not necessary.

Now click on the Java installer you saved to your hard drive and follow the instructions after you have completed that do the same with LimeWire.

Please post back and let us know if it worked. If it did not I will give further instructions on manually deleting Java and LimeWire.

2nd, First uninstall Java and LimeWire if you can then follow the instructions below.

You will need to go to Start/Run type regedit into the box this will open the registry editor

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER go to software expand it look for Java Script if you find it delete it. Now collapse it.

Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE go to software expand it look for Java, LimeWire & Magnet delete them if you find them.Collapse it

Now go to HKEY_USERS go to S-1-5-21 the first one then go to software expand it look for java if you find it delete it. Collapse it. Close registry editor now go back to the original instructions and manually install Java then LimeWire.

This should work if it doesn’t then I do not know of another way. Running WinMx should have no effect on LimeWire installing I have WinMx on my machine also along with a few others.

Be careful when you are in the registry do not delete anything other than I listed above you can mess up your machine if you accidentally uninstall something or change your registry settings.
