hard to use

Is there a way that I can resume but using another file and server? Why is it that when I abort and resume one file, it keeps trying to start from the beginning, but when I stop, it tells me the farthest I have gone in the download?

Hallo:

[Is there a way that I can resume but using another file and server?]
Yes, with some servents, eg. Gnucleus, but only if the two files are identical down to byte level. With different files, no. Imagine the difficulties to make sure the file parts will fit together...

With my servent no problem (Gnucleus), if you tell us which one you are using we will surely help you further. As said before, the more information you give, the better will be the answers.

Greetings....

I understand that they have to be identical to the last byte. So how can I resume, but using a different file? Everytime I tried to download the same file, but different server, it starts from the beginning.

You haven't said which what servent you are using, but Gnucleus checks for filesize and filename. So if you find a file of the exact same size from another servent, even if the filename is slightly different, you can go to your Partials folder, change the filename of the partial file you have, and resume the download from the new servent.

So does PHEX (use V0.46).
It automatically searches for more files, similar names, same size and changes the host to complete the downloads!

It may show 0bytes, even for partially downloaded files, when you start it up later again. Don't worry, once it starts downloading, it changes to the correct size.

It is a great program, though a bit slow on connecting and reacting (Java based).

But has great features, the other clients don't have.

Especially the resume and multiple host on downloads makes sure you get your files, while doing something else.
