Now that Napster has fallen to the pressure exerted by the RIAA, a hole in the MP3 sharing environment has been left in its wake. Though Gnutella is capable of much more, I think its best suited to fill that role for the many Napster users now left stranded. I wonder though, if the RIAA will be able to affect the Gnutella community. Even if Gnutella has no central authority to target, will it be possible for the RIAA to bring about any legal action against Gnutella developers for providing the tools to access the network?

I hope gnutella is capable of supporting 20 million more users, because it's moving day baby! The evil music industry bigshots have decided to tear down napster and plow it into a technological parking lot but you know what? There are more mp3 playgrounds out there than they can shut down. Even if they do destroy gnutella, we'll all just move to the next one.
The only way they're going to stop it is to buy the technology from napster and charge the users for it. I wouldn't mind getting a song for a 7 day trial and then paying the artist their precious 2 bucks (which is all they make off cd's).

With bandwiths ever growing it will soon resonable to download those 200 - 600 Megs a Video normally takes up. Even a Gig won´t take too long withing some years. The first videos are already available and i doubt that they will vanish. Can you imagine waht that means for the movie-industry? or pay-tv-channels? or video-stores? Thing are getting more and more interesting!
