Thumbs down assistance (what is a thread and how do I enter my first post.)

Before I submit my question I would like to say hi! Now I'm having trouble understanding what is a thread and how do I enter my first post.

You have already created your first thread/post. A thread is the the list of posts collectively under one topic. I am now posting a reply to the thread you started entitled assistance. A post is a single posting. You will see numbers next to each post in this thread. #1 beside your first post & a #2 beside mine. These are individual posts. All added onto the same thread. You can find out more if you click on the FAQ button next to the User CP (User control panel), top left.

Make sure of your topic & try to find the correct section in the forums to post. Then name the thread appropriately to suit your topic. Some tips can also be found here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/mac-os...od-thread.html

Thank you very much Lord of the Rings. Maybe I could take this time to ask a question. Are you up for it?

If it's a specific question pertaining to a p2p client program, then best to post in that section & I can answer it there.

I installed limewire a few weeks ago, then I cleared it, I'm afraid I trashed too much. Now when I try to download. It said looking for an application I moved too fast and attached it to quicktime. Now when I try the download it says a movie could not be open, a file could not be found It shows the yellow hazard triangle with the quicktime Q
WHAT HAVE I DONE?

Try these things:

1. Go to Start menu > Programs > LimeWire > Uninstall. __ If that works then reinstall LW again.

2. Download the OFFLINE version & install. If it won't let you, then try step 3.

3. Errors due to mistakenly uninstalling LW using Add/Remove control panel - what to try now. Read from here onward!

This is not the appropriate section for your last question by the way. lol

To make it work on a Mac, you have to change one thing Lord of the Rings put. Go into your applications folder, and drag all LimeWire items into the trash. Empty your trash. Continue to reinstall LimeWire.

The file you download from LW.org site is a dmg file. If that's the file you mean that has a quicktime icon, then select the dmg file, go to File menu & get information. Then choose open with & choose DiskImageMounter or Disk Copy from the drop down menu. Press the Change All button.
